Evelyn has a parietal encephalocele as her primary diagnosis. She also has microcephaly, likely a holoprosencephaly and Chiari III malformation. This is a less than 1 in 20,000 occurance and only 3% of kids with this developmental problem (which is similar to spina bifida) are live births.
He discussed hospice care for most of our visit.
